While the thought of traveling in 2020 causes many to cringe, Americans are still getting out and about for the holidays. Squaremouth, Inc., a travel insurance comparison website, reported a 26% year-on-year increase in overall travelers from March to November 2020, with U.S. domestic trips growing by more than 170% during the period.
Roughly 40% of Thanksgiving travelers specifically searched for travel insurance coverage for the coronavirus, making it the top concern ahead of weather and financial defaults, Squaremouth reported.
For those planning to travel during the pandemic, the U.S. Travel Association suggests the following guidelines:
- Wear a mask, practice social distancing and wash hands frequently. If soap and water are not available, use at least 60% alcohol hand sanitizer.
- Make sure you can travel safely. Don’t go on a trip if you are sick or have been around someone with COVID-19 in the past 14 days.
- Get a flu vaccine.
